London South Bank University-
With the intent to redevelop their classrooms and set a new uniform standard throughout all of their buildings, London South Bank University commissioned GV Multimedia’s Hounslow team to integrate an AV system across 44 rooms with the intent to roll out similar systems across all teaching spaces throughout the University.
GV has worked with the University to fine tune and integrate equipment into the system designed by LSBU. Based around an AMX control solution, the University’s design consists of a Massio 8-button control panel and a five-input Solecis switcher. Within this system, all inputs run into the switcher which in turn outputs across a single Cat6 running out of the Solecis, up to an AMX DX-RX HDMI Receiver Module and into each system’s projector - creating a complete IP based solution.
To maintain uniformity across the board, London South Bank University selected Epson EB-1940W WXGA projectors for the 10 rooms that required a projection upgrade. For the 34 that didn’t, the system included the Epson EB-1930 units that were already in place. The new projectors display onto 2m Draper Luma 16:10 projection screens.
Each of the rooms also featured a TOP-TEC Lectus integrated teaching desk which was designed in conjunction with the manufacturer as well as the client’s input. Each desk features the University’s branding and control for the AV system. The rooms also feature an ART CLEANBox Pro balancing convertor and Ecler Audeo 106P speakers for high quality audio.
The reason that LSBU has opted for an AMX-centric standard is that the University is notable for being a model example of AMX systems. Staff at the University are well versed in the operation of AMX products and use AMX’s RPM (Rapid Project Maker) and RMS (Resource Management Suite) systems in order to configure the programming of the panel due to the accessible nature of RPM. Able to create custom coding and control panel layouts to suit each room’s requirements perfectly, these applications allow the client the freedom to modify the system however they wish without the need to consult external programmers. As a result, London South Bank University is currently at the forefront of AMX technology in education.
With this new standard set, GV is understandably proud to have worked with the University in the development and integration of such a vast and comprehensive AMX based system and look forward to continuing the relationship with the University in rolling out this impressive new standard throughout the entire institution.
