Middlesex University - The Grove-
Middlesex University undertook a consolidation process to bring all their UK based teaching and learning to a single campus in Hendon. Part of their multi-phased works saw the creation of their Grove complex that is now the home for their Art, Design and Media students.
The Grove is an ambitious development spanning three buildings, consisting of flexible teaching spaces from workshops to digital media studios. GV Multi-media had to create systems that were flexible and robust for over 78 teaching and meeting spaces. We also were tasked to provide a 4x4 video wall, a design solution into their multi-functional space.
36 Category C Teaching Rooms
These systems provided HD Projection from Hitachi, optical white glass boards and screens from TK Team, analogue and digital scaled switching and from Kramer, Sony Blu-ray disc players, Kramer HDMI to Cat6 transmitter receivers, Denon audio amplification, Phonic mixing, JBL speakers, Sennheiser I/R radiators, and Audio Technica microphones. All products are housed in the latest MKII Teammate design with customisation to suit the client. On the worktop are a Wolfvision Visualiser and a CP3017 Controller by AMX.
5 Category B Seminar Rooms
The seminar rooms contain full HD projection from Hitachi linked via Kramer Cat6 to HDMI transmitter and a JBL 5.1 audio system to support the media and film usage for these spaces. All items are housed within a MKII TeamMate Dual Bay Podium with a Wolfvsion Visualiser and gooseneck microphone on the worktop. Control is via an AMX 7” touch Panel and NI3100 processor linked to RMS.
1 Large Multi-Functional Space
The multi-functional space is made up of four rooms, three of which are standard Category C Teaching rooms that can be detached when needed. The fourth room is the master room and is used when the partition walls are removed to make one larger space or in twin mode. When opened up the larger space offers twin 3m Full HD projection capable of displaying any source on any screen.
25 Meeting Rooms
In these rooms the latest NEC X461S LED Displays and additional NEC Speakers were used to support meeting room presentations, controlled via an AMX CP3008 and placed on RMS. TK Team optical white glass boards are present as a writing surface.
10 Interactive Meeting Rooms
A U-Touch 42” overlay provides interactivity for users in these rooms, with a Mac Mini placed securely behind the screen and set up in dual boot mode users are able to simply select Mac OS or Windows 7 dependent on their preference. AMX CP3008 controls the system and is placed on RMS.
1 Video Wall Solution
Within the main Atrium the video wall was created using X462UN ultra-thin bezel displays from NEC and is said to be the largest video wall in education at a 4 x 4 46” display format.
