Part of the Farnell Group, CPC (based in Preston) is a leading business-to-business distributor. For over 40 years CPC have supplied electrical and related products to a large and diverse customer base. CPC stock over 100,000 products from over 1,200 manufacturers and therefore interaction, communication and collaboration with clients near and far is essential. To facilitate this, GV Multi-media was brought on board to overhaul a very tired boardroom.
The original board room comprised of a portable projection screen with a portable projector stood on a table, along with some portable powered speakers. Video conferencing did exist within the space but this was always a chore to set up and, with poor video and audio quality, it was rarely used. Furthermore, trailing cables were all over the floor creating trip hazards for all who used the space.
Along with a local networked PC, multiple laptop connections were provided for users along with a ceiling recessed document camera. Options are now available in terms of display where the user can choose to use a large flat screen display or the projection screen and ceiling recessed projector would lower on a motorized scissor lift. A Christie projector was used to provide high quality images.
Another important function for the room is videoconferencing and teleconferencing.
The audio quality was equally important to provide the full solution. To achieve this, GV installed microphones placed equidistantly along the length of the conference table, each with unique properties for the correct pick based on the position of the user at the table.
Although there is a lot of technology within the boardroom, the system is incredibly easy to use, cable free and importantly is now a boardroom they can use to entertain clients in a professional environment and be proud of.
